Geek Markets aims to hold multiple events every year, one in Canberra and one in Southern NSW making this the region’s largest FREE event for popular culture. Here, fans of movies, series, games, cosplay and more meet to enjoy a unique atmosphere and have fun together. 

WHAT IS GEEK MARKETS!

Geek Markets is a indoor, market held across ACT and NSW. Geek Markets is a collection of curated, geek-themed markets held throughout the year in multiple cities. Created by geeks for geeks, Geek Markets is a showcase for….well, Geeks who create things! Geeks who draw things! Geeks who sell things! And geeks, it must be said, make the best things.

You can participate in Geek Markets in several different ways. For example, you can book a stand or sponsor an activity area, which is a great way to activate your brand and engage potential customers. We can also develop several sponsorship and advertising solutions where you can effectively communicate your message via our digital channels. We are open to ideas and are very happy to help you find the perfect solution. 

Geek Markets is a market that has been created by designers for designers and our team understands the needs of our stallholders firsthand and will provide support and opportunities to maximise your success. We are more than just a market, we are a community of small business owners that are passionate about handmade Australian products. Whether you’re new to selling at markets or a market veteran, we believe that working together can help grow both your brand and ours.

STEP 1 – Read the information

Criteria to join Geek Markets

Geek Market is a curated event. We are looking for designers, makers and producers that will be a great fit for our markets and customers.

Please be aware that we have a strict criteria. If you do not meet the criteria you will not be accepted.  The criteria is as follows:

Handmade = of an original design, concept, and product of the seller’s making.

AI Art = Geek Markets do not condone or accept an form of AI-generated art piece being sold in our Exhibit Hall or Artist Alley.

What is the cost for a market stall?

A fee will be applied for an Exhibitor Space, this fee helps to offset the production costs of Geek Markets Canberra and allows us to keep the event free for the public. All costs outlined include admin & Credit card surcharges may apply.

Exhibitors are free to remove or rearrange table/chairs as they see fit, provided they do not exceed their allotted space.

IMPORTANT: Please make sure you read the terms and conditions for our events before registering. You will be required to provide a $10 million public liability market insurance certificate of currency to attend our markets.  Food & drink stalls are responsible for the required permits for your products.

 

  • Table Only – $TBC (2m x 2m Space TABLE ONLY). Please Note: Limited Available. May be separate from the main trading hall.
  • Artist Alley Table – $TBC (2m x 2m Space, 1x 1.8m Trestle Table,  2x 1.0m backing board, 2 x Chairs).
  • Artist Alley Table with Corner – $TBC (2m x 2m Space, 1x 1.8m Trestle Table,  2x 1.0m backing board, 2 x Chairs, End of row).
  • Shared Artist Alley Space (Buddy Stalls) – $TBC (2m x 2m Space, 1x 1.8m Trestle Table,  2x 1.0m backing board, 2 x Chairs).
  • Double Artist table – $TBC (4m x 2m Space, 2x 1.8m Trestle Table, 3x 1.0m backing board, 2 x Chairs). Limited Available. 
  • Gold Space – $TBC (3m x 3m Space, One open side).
  • Gold Space with Corner – $TBC (3m x 3m Space, Two open sides).
  • Platinum Space –  $TBC (6m x 3m Space).

 

You are required to trade at the market for the full duration of the event.  Everyone who says they want to attend the event receives a response as to whether their application has been successful or not. Those that are successful will be sent an invoice via email, which will need to be paid within 14 days.

STEP 2: Register your interest

The next step is an easy one. Now you have read all the information, terms and conditions and fit the criteria just fill in the form… it’s that easy!

Expressions of Interest close: Sunday 1 September. Applicants will be made aware of Geek Markets decision by Sunday 29 September. Geek Markets will not confirm any acceptance before this date or via social media. 

STEP 3: Eagerly await our response

The next step is an easy one. Now you have read all the information, terms and conditions and fit the criteria just fill in the form… it’s that easy!

All Vendor Expression of Interests will be reviewed before being accepted. 

If your application is accepted, you will be notified and invoiced for the amount due. Invoice must be paid within 14 days of notification date; if invoice is not paid by this date, the invoice will be cancelled and you will become ineligible to exhibit at the event for which you have applied. 

If you are unsuccessful we will email you advising you so. We are unable to reply to each case individually but do offer up the most common reasons we cannot accept a new member. If your product changes significantly in the future, please feel free to register again.

Please Note: Once accepted, notified and invoiced – If a trader cancels their application for whatever reason then a small fee will be charged to cover the admin undertaken.
