Geek Markets (GM) is committed to ensuring the safety of its fans.
That includes providing an atmosphere that is free from harassment or behaviour that would be considered inappropriate for the family-friendly environment of the event. By attending GM, all fans are bound to respect and agree to the event’s Code of Conduct contained below. The Code of Conduct may be subject to change and failure to comply with any aspect of the Code of Conduct is grounds for ejection from the event as well as future bans.
The GM staff have sole discretion in determining whether the Code has been followed.
Geek Markets has a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY for harassment of any kind. If a person engages in harassing behaviour, Geek Markets (GM) Staff will take prompt action in any form they deem appropriate, including expulsion from GM with no refund.
Our policy applies to EVERYONE at the convention. Exhibitors, Fans (Attendees), Speakers, Guests, Professionals, Press, Staff, Volunteers and Security are all subject to our anti-harassment policy and will be held to the same standards and disciplinary action. Anyone can report harassment. If someone’s behaviour has made you uncomfortable, or if you witness the same happening to someone else, you should immediately contact GM Staff, Security Team or a Crew Member. You may also come to GM’s Show Office or information booth. If necessary, we will contact local law enforcement, provide an escort, offer a safe place or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to make sure they feel safe for the rest of GM.
Our mission is to create a fun, safe, welcoming, awesome event where Fans of all kinds can come together and celebrate. We want you to not only have the most amazing weekend ever but to experience it in an environment where you are safe and accepted. As Fans ourselves, we understand the importance of creating a safe space for everyone who attends GM.
If at any point you feel unsafe at Geek Markets or that any of the rules have been broken, we ask that you inform a volunteer or member of GM staff immediately. Your safety is our primary concern, and if you feel that safety has been compromised, we will do everything in our power to rectify the issue.
Issues of violence and harassment are addressed immediately, with guarded “Safe Areas” being designated in case any incidents do arise.
Illegal substances will not be tolerated at Geek Markets if you are caught buying, using or dealing illegal drugs while at the show, remediation steps will be taken.
If you are under the influence of illegal or legal drugs and are in any way interfering with other attendees and their ability to enjoy GM, we reserve the right to escort you from the premises with potentially even more severe remediation consequences.
Theft will not be tolerated at Geek Markets. If you are caught stealing directly from another individual or taking items from any private or public areas of GM that are not expressly indicated to be free, remediation steps will be taken, including referral to the police if necessary.
Geek Markets does not tolerate the commission or act of any crime not otherwise listed in this Code of Conduct at the event itself. Fans that are caught committing any crime, especially one that may endanger the safety of themselves or other fans are at risk of expulsion from the event and referral to the police.

Whether you’re donning a superhero mask for the first time or you’re a seasoned worbla maestro, we have some rules in place regarding certain props and behaviours that make sure everyone attending has a safe and super experience at the show!
Geek Markets is a family-friendly event and as such there is an expectation of an appropriate level of dress, including those in costume. Costumes or clothing must not be overly revealing, must not be overtly sexual or include inappropriate printed language or other elements that would otherwise contravene the Code of Conduct. If clothes or costumes are deemed unacceptably revealing or otherwise inappropriate, an attendee must change clothes or modify a costume so that it is deemed acceptable by staff.
GM reserves the right to ask any attendee to remove any costuming face covering, mask or head wear if necessary for the purposes of identification. Exceptions will be made for headwear or other clothing of a religious nature. Failure to comply with this will result in removal from the event.
Remember, naked is not a costume.
Geek Markets reserves the right to change elements of the Code of Conduct and to make interpretations of the conditions listed above. Geek Markets will also be the final judge in all disputes, particularly in cases where a fan’s safety may be at risk.
Geek Markets reserves the right to provide the appropriate remediation as a result of any breach of this Code of Conduct, including but not limited to expulsion from the event, referral to the authorities and future bans.
